A devout
student of Zen principles for the last 10 years, Mike melds the
principles with his client training – calling it “Power Zen,” a
combination of meditation, traditional fitness concepts and core
training. Although he holds his certification from the
International Sports Science Association, Sapp’s own lifestyle and
passion for fitness is what drives his business and what has made
him the most sought after personal trainer in Hawaii. Corporate
CEOs fill his list of clients.
As a storied pioneer of the West Coast personal training movement,
Mike Sapp has trained or worked out with everyone from Arnold
Schwarznegger to David Hassellhoff, founded one of the most
successful gyms in the country, been consistently ranked among the
best trainers in the nation, helped foster many of the most
significant advances in personal fitness, and –as if all that were
not enough- was ordained in 1996 as a Zen priest As he tells it, “I
was lucky enough to learn from some of the pioneers of the fitness
industry while living in Los Angeles, and have seen firsthand what
the benefits of a healthy lifestyle can produce. I know the
original muscle beach men who still work out and enjoy great
health.”
Long before his days in Sacramento, Governor Schwarzenegger asked
Mike to be his training partner as he prepared for his role in
Conan the Barbarian. Arnold got in incredible shape surprising
everyone (and it wouldn’t be the last time) by entering and winning
the 1980 Mr. Olympia competition after a 5 year layoff from
competition. And Mike Sapp’s reputation, and his list of clientele
grew.
When a movie star is filming in Hawaii and needs some buffing up,
Hollywood calls Mike Sapp. Just ask Baywatch star David Hasselhoff,
or Pearl Harbor’s Kate Beckensale.
